"Neighbors Helping Neighbors"
ABOUT US
THE STORY BEHIND MOUNT IDA
Mount Ida community Food Pantry is a non-for-profit organization run by volunteers to provide groceries to those finding it difficult to feed their families nutritious meals. We are a member of both The Regional Food Bank of Northeastern NY and The Food Pantries for the Capital District.
WHO WE SERVE
Mount Ida serves those who find themselves in a time when help is needed to continue feeding their family without having to go without in other areas of their lives, such as medicine, heat, housing, etc.
In March, 2011 the food pantry branched out and started "The Mount Ida Senior Program." This program was started to assist those seniors who reside in Kennedy Towers, a senior housing development of Troy. Residents sign up for the program through their caseworker and have their groceries delivered to their aparments on the third Saturday of each month.
In 2011 alone, Mount Ida Food Pantry assisted over 2,480 individuals (or 934 households).
